Web Hosting - Are You Getting Your Moneys Worth?

Web hosting. If the term means anything to you at all then you either already have a hosting provider or are looking for one. Either way I hope to educate you on some of the basics to look for in a hosting company. Personal, business, free, ecommerce or discount an educated consumer makes all the difference.

When reviewing hosting providers most people wouldn't put this point first, but I do. Support. Yes, most companies have some type of support, but not all are equal. First and foremost is availability. Support staff should be available 24/7 by phone and email. Response time should also be quick and wait times should be announced and published on the web site. Technicians should be friendly, educated and speak your language.

After support the next most important set of things to look for in a hosting company are features. If the company can't provide what you need then you might as well look elsewhere. Some basics are of course capacity and bandwidth, but more importantly is the ability to do what you need to with your site. Ecommerce, blogging, forums, scripting and databases are much more important anymore then the amount of space you get.

Last but not least is price. When I say price I don't mean to suggest you get the cheapest plan out there. You should find the plan that has the features you need and is affordable. Don't get more than you need simply because you can. There are many hosting companies out there with bargain basement pricing. They can do this because your server is in their basement next to their washer and dryer. Be careful who you do business with and remember you get what you pay for.

In summary I just want to point out that the hosting environment is changing. With blogs and the like becoming more prevalent hosting companies need to adapt to stay in business. You as the consumer need to be educated in what you need and don't be afraid to make a switch if you have to.

Judging People From Appearance

Based on the choice of clothing women can be divided into two categories: those who dress for others and those who dress for themselves.

The amount of clothes people have does not matter in the slightest. However, it is easy to judge a woman based on the amount of quality clothes in her wardrobe. Linen clothes do not make an exception as linen is one of the most ecological of all existing materials.

Lithuania has a very old flax cultivation tradition. Flax is closely associated with women here, to the extent that flax used to be called the womens plant and womens existence was closely related to that of flax. Women used to spin flax, weave linen and use it for a good many household chores. They used to die linen with all sorts of natural colours using cherry leaves to produce blue, flax flowers to produce red and apple tree skin to produce green.

The role of women as artists should not be underestimated either. They all wore self made linen clothes that reflected their spiritual and creative visions. The bed covers, table cloths, and towels exhibited at contemporary ethnographical museums continue to fascinate us by the impressive techniques used to make them as well as artistic qualities such as the subtle harmony of ornaments and colours.

One should not believe that linen clothes are worn only where the material itself is produced. Having long spread all over the world and valued for its hygienic qualities, linen is more and more widely used by clothes producers. Today one has a choice between original designer models and mass produced trousers, skirts and tunics. Many think that linen clothes can only be worn in summer. Contemporary technologies allow for the production of mixed materials, such as especially highly valued combination of wool and linen. Linen makes it resistant and wool makes it warm. Trousers or suits made of this material are perfectly suitable to wear in winter too.

Every time you think of treating yourself to a new piece of clothing, remember that it is not the quantity, but the quality that matters. Dont forget, you are first judged by your appearance

Ashes Cricket Set For Media-Rich Content

With the media watching every move (a friend at Cricket Australia said 1800 applied for accreditation) and different forms of reporting being explored faster than a Brett Lee bouncer (after being hit for three boundaries in a row), let's look at some of the sites worth perusing during the jamboree Down Under.

It's amazing how I didn't notice cricket blogging last summer, but that's proved how popular the term has become and how addictive it can be if you have one; with the time difference working to the internet's advantage over written media this time around, it only looks set to continue.

Two sites which blogged throughout the last Ashes were first-stop shop The Corridor, written by Will Luke at Cricinfo, and The Ashes Blog, which re-enacts key moments in a Brisbane back garden to by-pass image copyright laws. Both top stuff.

Of the other blogs, The Times' line and Length is the best. Patrick Kidd also linked Nutley on one of his posts, so that's definitely worth its weight! Others worth a gander include King Cricket, the BBC's TMS Blog, Cricinfo's Tour Diaries and Aussie-written The Cricket Blog and Rick Eyre's site.

From the Aussie media view, Fox Sports and Sydney Morning Herald's The Tonk are the two most likely to provide creative and lively debate amongst both sets of supporters. Most of the UK's broadsheets will no doubt provide an Ashes Diary along the way: only The Independent's Stephen Brenkley seems to keep these off-beat type stories going on a regular basis.

On the new media side, The Analyst will be providing his short, concise Telegraph podcasts, while Cricket World will be featuring live audio and real time footage throughout the Ashes. A Classic Gold Aussie radio station phoned a few of us up last summer for a breakfast link, so keep your eyes peeled here if they do the same again. BBQ Bob, the host, was a typically lively, early morning DJ. One colleague always seemed to get one over him though, especially when he said that Glenn McGrath falling over the ball and chain at Edgbaston was England's gain.

Easy Tips For Running An Internet Home Business

The know how necessary for running an internet home business is really common sense and strong work ethic. With a few simple pointers, you could be well on your way to running a successful internet home business, and this article will provide the know-how.

First, it is important to allot time every day to manage your business. A home business can be a catch twenty-two. It allows you to be home with your family or simply to be comfortable as you work, but the distractions can be endless. As you start your home business, begin practicing a schedule by which you can ensure you spend enough time getting your business off the ground. If you schedule this time in just as you would schedule a dentist appointment, you are more likely to give it the priority it deserves.

Second, it is advisable to do a comprehensive spreadsheet on which you list each program you are involved in, the date it was started, the cost, summary description of each action you need to take to get the most from the program, date of any subscription renewal etc. This will allow you to manage implementation of the steps necessary to maximize the benefits available. This approach will also help you to manage cost, since you will be able to monitor subscription end date and close those programs that are not effective in a timely manner.

Third, always carry your card. If you dont have a card, create a business card for your internet home business. This is a great way to network and get the word out about your business. Leave a few at the local coffee shop or the hairdresser. Utilize your card as free advertising, and understand that only twenty percent of the people who get your card will go to your website. This means that self-advertising with a business card is a numbers game. Want a lot of hits on your site? Distribute a lot of cards. Give cards to friends and business associates to pass on to their clients.

Forth, network! Get to know other people running home businesses and utilize them for support and pointers. The more experience a person has, the more likely they are to relate to your particular situation. This advice can be invaluable. Chat rooms, websites, and local meetings can provide a wealth of information and motivation.

Fun Backyard Activities For Your Family

The backyard is used mostly during the summer. The weather is warm and most people like to be outside enjoying the season. That is where you probably would end up too. To make your time memorable and enjoyable during those months of warm temperatures, here are a few things you can do with your whole family.

Everybody has to eat and most people enjoy a meal outdoors whether it be lunch, breakfast, or dinner. You could think about having your next meal cooked outside on the grill. If you dont have a grill you can check the numerous models on the market today. You can get a cheap charcoal grill for no more than thirty dollars.

If a barbeque in your backyard is too cumbersome for your family, you could try a picnic. Simply prepare the meal in the kitchen and bring it outside to enjoy. There are so many traditional picnic foods to choose from such as subs, coleslaw, salads, sandwiches, cookies, crackers and pretzels but you can have whatever you want. Make sure to have plenty of water about you, if the weather is hot you would need to avoid dehydration.

Another activity you can participate in during the summer months is swimming. This is a perfect family pastime because all ages enjoy the pool. It could last most of the day and you could create wonderful memories. For those who dont have a pool and cant afford one it doesnt matter, there are plenty of other things a family can do in the backyard.

You can engage in all sorts of water games. If you buy some water guns or a water sprinkler or make some water balloons everybody would enjoy themselves and it would be a chance to cool off a little. These items can be brought anywhere, at a retail store or online and they dont cost too much.

If your family is more interested in sports you can set up a basket ball or a volley ball hoop in your backyard. It may cost more than you are thinking of spending but it will last for a long time and you will get a lot of use out of it. If you cant afford that, think about games such as soft ball or kickball which are less expensive.

Backyard camping is a great way to end your day with the family. People of all ages will enjoy it, especially families with small children. You are not so far away from home if there is any emergency, it doesnt cost as much, it is an unforgettable experience. You can buy a tent and other equipment for an affordable price if you dont have one already.

Try asking you family for other suggestions of what you can do together out there in the backyard. These are just a few suggestions but one of your children might come up with something you never even thought of that may create a memorable experience.

Avoid Credit Check on Taking online Bad Credit Used Car Loan

Used car loan with bad credit does not come easy as lenders take utmost cautions. Still if one applies for online bad credit used car loan the required finance can be availed in a hassle free manner and at low cost as well. Online bad credit used car loan is called so because the loan is applied online. Because of the benefits attached with the electronic medium the loan is approved instantly.

Online bad credit used car loan is easy to apply for. All a loan seeker does is to give required personal and loan related information like your name, occupation, employment status, loan amount and repayment duration etc in a simple online application format. The lender will then verify the information which will not take much time and you will be conveyed the approval of the loan within days. Thus online bad credit used car loan is in the account of the loan seeker in right time when he intends to buy a used car. Bad credit happens to a borrower when he has repeatedly defaulted on payment and therefore has to face CCJs or bankruptcy. His credit score on FICO scale of 300 to 850 remains below 600, considered unsafe for a loan offer. Bad credit however will not come in way of taking the loan if certain conditions are met.

You can apply for online bad credit used car loan in secured or unsecured versions. For taking secured option the borrower is required to place any of his property like home, vehicle, valuable papers etc as collateral with the lender. One can easily take any amount of secured loan for buying used car depending on higher equity in the collateral. The secured loan has this advantage of lower interest rate which can be in fact further lowered as the loan seeker compares different loan packages.

One big advantage with secured bad credit used car loan is that the lender usually will not look into bad credit of the borrower. This is mainly because lender has secured the loan. If there is payment default from the borrower, lender can recover loaned amount on selling borrowers property placed as collateral. Remember that the used car deal can also be taken by the lender that will be returned only when the loan is fully paid back. Though the borrower can use the car but in case of payment default, lender will take the car in his possession.

Unsecured online bad credit used car loan requires no collateral. The borrower however will verify your annual income, employment status and financial standing the details of which you fill in the online application. Once the lender is satisfied, the loan will be approved despite your bad credit.

While searching for used car seller avoid buy-here-pay-here car lots as they normally do not have quality cars and do not report the deal to the credit bureaus and it does not help in improving your credit score. See if used car has any mechanical defects and get it repaired or get a warranty on the used car.

Online bad credit used car loan makes the loan availing at low cost possible for a loan seeker having bad credit. Once the loan is fully paid back in time, it goes a long way in restoring credit score at improved level.

Online Crime of Greater Concern than Burglary to UK Internet Users

UK internet users fear cyber crime more than traditional crimes such as car theft, mugging or burglary according to a new report. But as Internet activity, including online shopping and banking, continue to grow we explore ways of reducing the risk of cyber crime and look at providers of alternative methods of remaining active online.

The volume of internet users engaging in online retail and banking are increasing rapidly year on year. With the UK internet retail market set to command a cumulative turnover of an estimated 2 billion for 2006, the web represents the fastest growing medium for retailers in the UK. But as with any marketplace the criminal mind realises an opportunity when they see it and fear over online crime is of growing concern for people in the UK.

A new report from Get Safe Online (GSOL) suggests that more people in the UK fear Internet crime than traditional crimes such as burglary or muggings. Indeed, some 21% of the of the survey group highlighted internet crime as the highest area of risk compared with 16% and 11% for burglary and mugging respectively. The 21% of those who fear internet crime most represents an increase from last year where the same question garnered a 17% response.

GSOL, as with other agencies involved in this area, state that awareness and preparation on the part of the internet user population are the most effective guard against the apparent risks of cyber crime. Even so, 50% of the people polled stated evident gaps in their knowledge about online safety, whist some 76% felt that it is the responsibility of government and big business to guard users and customers from the risks of online crime. Whilst it is clear that online retail businesses and bans are concerned with customer safety and are investing large capital to address the issue, it is important to be aware and take precautions against online crime.

Shopping online is rapidly becoming the norm. But internet search statistics show a wide variation in online retail user profiles. As the revenues from online retail show, many people are prepared to conduct credit and debit card transaction online, but a significant proportion of the population use the internet to compare products and prices, choosing to make purchases offline instead. Other business models, such as Loot use a classified style model allowing buyers and sellers of goods to connect online, but meeting in person to conclude any sale therefore eliminating the prospect of online crime, whilst capitalising on the benefits of the internet for locating and comparing products and services.

It is unlikely that the findings of the GSOL report will halt the seemingly rampant march of the online retail sector, but it does highlight the issue of internet crime and the reservations of a large proportion of the online community in the UK to contribute to such growth. Businesses who engage in an online business model are taking progressive steps to curtail the issue, but as long as there is money to be made, criminals will continue to exploit loopholes. It pays the individual user to take precautions and be aware of what to look for to minimise any risk, and for those who choose to abstain from online purchases, there are business out there who allow you to circumvent the risk altogether.

Building Your Own Credit History

Modern times require modern actions and credit cards are the modern tools that anyone may need but not everyone may have. Establish a good credit history seems to be harder for those individuals who do not have a credit past, however it can be build up individually for the first time starting small.

Your credit history determines many economy-related activities in your life including getting a job, obtaining reasonable rates on insurance, purchasing an automobile or renting an apartment. So starting small building your credit history means that you can do some research for department stores and financial institutions where you can apply for small amounts of credit.

Do not forget to get a written copy of the conditions, terms and fees applying to the type of credit chosen. Penalties for late payments and interest rates may be slightly higher that other regular credits if the applicant does not have established credit.

Most experts recommend you to request a copy of your credit report from the three national credit bureaus. Yes, you may not have a credit history yet but the request will make the bureaus create the reports making it easier they put files on your credit report as soon as you start getting small credits.

Although there is, a possibility of getting those reports with information already included because any credit purchases made in your past is reflected on your credit history. If the file exists, make sure the information is accurate or immediately report any incorrect information so that they can take action to correct your file.

Another good option in building your credit history is to open a bank account, either a savings or checking account. Analyze the bank's financial products because there is no need to be a big investor to find some type of products offering savings accounts, checking accounts and debit card as a whole.

always Keep in mind that your bank accounts are to build a good credit history so do not miss your goal using them to purchase until you are in debt or you bounce checks. Getting a loan may round your credit plan if you pay consistently and pay all bills in a timely manner, so the granter may report this positive information to the credit bureau.

There are other useful strategies to build a credit history or improve your credit score if the history already exists. Apply for a secured credit car or prepaid card, open utility accounts such as gas, electric and phone service are just a few of them.

The most important thing to remember, use your cards or credits regularly to ensure that your report is updated regularly and pay your bills on time, because lenders look at the most recent information on your credit history report.

Choose The Right Format For Your E-zine

When you plan to publish your e-zine, one of the first things you need to decide on is the format in which you want to publish it to your readers.

Currently, email can be delivered in two different formats: Plain text and HTML. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each format:

--------------Plain Text--------------

Advantages:

* Easy to create

* Can be read with all email programs

* Small size equals fast delivery and short download times

* Some people consider it to be more personal than HTML newsletters

Disadvantages:

* Poor formatting options

* Newsletters may appear different to different users, depending on the email client, font choices, and margin settings

--------------HTML Text--------------

Advantages:

* Complete formatting options; your newsletter may look like web pages or a printed magazine, with colorful pictures and rich formatting.

* Provide better tracking options; you can see how many people have opened your message.

Disadvantages:

* Some people use email clients that do not support HTML properly, or deliberately turn off HTMLor filter HTML mails from unfamiliar senders into the trash.

* HTML messages are significantly larger than plain text messages, and take more time to deliver.

* When you include pictures, you either have to embed them into your email, which adds to the size, or link them to files on the Internet, which requires the recipient to stay connected to the Internet while reading your message.

Which format you finally use really depends on the contents of your newsletter and also on your target group. I have decided on using HTML format, since it provides me the most freedom and also give a more professional impression.

When sending automatic follow-up emails, however, in same cases it can be better to send a plain text email that looks like somebody has manually written it.

Special Tip: Using a professional email program like EmailUnlimited you can easily send emails that contains both, an HTML and a plain text your of your newsletter. This way, the recipient's email program will automatically determine which format it can display best and you can be sure that your message gets displayed on any email client.

13 Ways to Recognize & Distinguish Your Baby's Cries

A crying baby can be one of the most frustrating and frightening experiences for first time parents. It's important to remember a crying baby is normal, and that it's the only way a baby has to communicate. In fact, you should want your baby to cry so that you can attend to your baby's needs. However, for most people the sound of a baby's cry is unpleasant and often times first time parents' panic at the sound of their crying baby.

There are differing opinions about letting a baby "cry it out." In my opinion, leaving a baby alone to cry does not support a baby's feeling of security in its strange new world. Oftentimes, babies that are left to cry work themselves into frenzy, making it harder for you to calm them or distinguish what's wrong.

Nowadays, the conventional wisdom is that it's impossible to "spoil" an infant by attending to its every cry. In fact, doing so may make baby less likely to cry (we've all seen and heard the toddlers who yell at their parents - and everyone else - in order to get them to just listen). Young babies aren't able to manipulate situations, so there's no way you can spoil them by attending to their needs. After all, why wouldn't we parents want to shower our babies with unconditionally abundant love?

Here's a list of 13 reasons why babies cry and the actions you can take to stop your baby's cries and immediately give them the loving care and safe baby handling they deserve.

Babies usually cry because of the following

1. Hungry Feed your crying baby.

2. Wet or soiled diaper Change your baby.

3. Pain - from a diaper pin, too-tight diaper, elastic band or clothing.

4. Excess wind Burp your crying baby.

5. Too hot or too cold Check the back of your baby's neck or chest area to gauge body temperature and adjust clothing or room temperature accordingly. Your crying baby may be clammy or sweaty if hot and their hands and feet could be slightly bluish if they are cold.

6. Over tired Try to establish a regular sleep routine and arrange visitors around waking hours.

7. Over stimulated Stop playing with your crying baby or allowing too many people to handle her. Calm your baby with music or loving touch and encourage rest or sleep.

8. Lonely or bored Hold your crying baby and give it your undivided attention.

9. Sucky Let a crying baby suck on your finger or her own fingers or thumb, give her a pacifier or a breast.

10. Anger Go to your baby quickly if it cries. If you leave a baby crying too long, it will get angry.

11. Scared perhaps a loud noise or unfamiliar person made your baby cry. Reassure you baby with loving touch. Place your crying baby close to your heart so they are comforted by your familiar heartbeat.

12. Unwell Rock and sooth a crying baby. If your baby's skin or eyes look dramatically different, his cries don't "sound right", your baby has rapid or shallow breathing or a high fever, and you are worried call your pediatrician.

13. Colicky or crying for no apparent reason (Colicky babies cry for 3 or more hours per day) Cuddle and sooth your crying baby by playing soft or rhythmical music, sway her, rub her tummy and/or give her skin-to-skin contact. If you are no longer breastfeeding, it is important to note that sometimes a baby can be colicky because they are lactose intolerant. Check with your doctor or homeopath to find out if your baby is allergic to the brand of baby formula you are using.

When the crying starts, quickly run down the above checklist and make sure the baby's needs are met and there's no apparent injury. Many times, the baby will calm simply by:

1. Picking up your baby, holding it close to your body in a soft curve, and walking with it or rocking it.

2. Calm your baby with music and slow dancing with your baby by holding her close to your heart.

3. Holding it in a front carrier next to mom's or dad's heartbeat (some say babies that are "worn" frequently this way may cry less overall).

4. Loving touch with light massage, stroking your baby's back or rhythmically patting his bottom.

5. Talking in a soothing, calming voice, and/or giving it a finger, its own hand or a pacifier to suck.

6. Singing lullabies to your crying baby.

Above all, trust yourself with your baby. You and your baby are just beginning to know each other in your baby's first year. Especially if you are a first time mom, the dramatic lifestyle change and lack of sleep is enough to through you off balance.

The old saying, "mother knows best" is still very appropriate. No matter what advice you read, you must trust your internal mothering instincts first and foremost. However, if a crying baby becomes overwhelming for you, get daddy, a friend or relative to take over for a few hours while you take a break. A simple nap or coffee with a girlfriend will do you a world of good.

For a hot relationship: An overnight stay at an adult hotel after a romantic dinner. (make sure the hotel is high class not one where prostitutes get hourly rates.

For a couple with no money, but a TV set: Males, tell your woman you love her, wish you could give her the world, but can she accept at this time in the relationship your holding her hand during the shows and cuddling with her all night, breakfast in bed in the morning. Female: Get something that resembles ribbon, wrap it over the remote and tell him he gets to watch whatever he wants tonight with you sitting next to him and sharing the experience.

Gift Certificates are great for any occasion as long as you follow the rules:

Make it as specific as possible but broad enough to enjoy. Specific, something you know they like, NOT BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT, you can like it, just know that they like it. Know, dont assume. If they go to the movies regulary, a pass to a theater with 21 screening would rock, passes to your favorite sub-titled french film would not rock.

If they are always brand name clothes shopping a gift certificate to a store that carries their brand of clothing would rock, a gift certificate to Walmart would not rock.

If they are into tools and do-it-yourself home projects, software of house how to such as Home Depot or This Old House would rock. Giving them a drill would not rock (unless you know they are looking for a drill and you know it is their favorite brand of drill).

These little things may seem obvious to those that gift all of the time and receive rave reactions. Bless you. But for those of you who feel you bumble and stumble through the gift giving process I hope this helped.

Getting To The Truth About Oxycontin

Simply put, OxyContin is an FDA approved narcotic that is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It is very similar to the pain reliever, morphine.

When taken, generally twice a day, it slowly releases the active ingredient, oxycodone, over a specific period of time.

OxyContin, when used inappropriately, such as being chewed, crushed or broken, can lead to fatal overdoses. It is prescribed for those who experience intense pain regularly. It is not intended to be used by those who only need occasional pain relief.

Various reports have shown OxyContin abuse all across the United States since it's release in 1995. The result of this abuse has been serious and includes death in some cases.

Studies show that it appeals to the same people that use heroin or morphine as a way to get high.

The mixture of some drugs with OxyContin can lead to death or serious injury. It should never be mixed with any other pain medication, sleeping pills, or tranquilizers. The two could interact dangerously. It is important that your doctor is fully aware of any type of medication, whether prescription, over-the- counter or natural remedies, you are taking before taking OxyContin.

Those who take OxyContin, have been known to develop a physical dependence on this drug. Addiction can lead to serious complications.

As with any drug, there is a potential for side effects and overdose. Some side effects that can occur with OxyContin include constipation, nausea, rash, light- headedness, emotional disorders, mouth dryness, sedation, confusion, respiratory depression, vomiting, sweating and dizziness.

Other serious side effects include seizures, slow breathing, weakness, coma, loss of consciousness, clammy or cold skin.

Constriction of the pupils can indicate an overdose. Overdose and death can occur if OxyContin is mixed with depressants such as benzodiazepine or alcohol.

OxyContin is a Schedule II Controlled Substance meaning it is under the full control of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) with the department of Justice in the United States. It is required that all physicians and pharmacists keep strict records on prescriptions for the drug.

Unsecured Cash Loans borrow instantly for urgency

Are you in urgent need of money? Well, it would be better that instead of wasting time in asking your friends or relatives for the money, which they may not be having that very instant, you apply for unsecured cash loans. The biggest advantage and attraction of unsecured cash loans is that it is approved instantly in an hour for most of the applicants and so the loan amount gets deposited the same day in the borrowers bank account. You can take unsecured cash loan for any personal purpose.

Unsecured cash loans are fully risk free for the borrowers as these loans are approved without collateral. Unsecured cash loans are also know as payday loans since these loans can be repaid when the borrower gets next paycheque. Usually unsecured cash loans are approved for two weeks. However you can extend the loan for some more weeks is the need be so. Generally lenders approve ₤100 to ₤1500 as unsecured cash loan depending on your monthly salary.

One disadvantage of unsecured cash loans is that lenders charge very high fee on the loan. So it is costly loan. However, on comparing lenders you always find a suitable lender charging lower fee. Better take rate quotes for the comparison.

Unsecured cash loans are approved without any credit checks. This is because the loan is based on monthly salary of the borrower and small amount can be easily repaid through next paycheque. So even if you have late payments, arrears or county court judgments in your name, still lenders are willing to offer you an amount as unsecured cash loans.

You should be at least of 18 years of age and should be a regular employee. Also you should have an active checking account in a bank. Avoid extending the loan repayment as it involves enhanced fee of the lender.

Internet Marketing Or Network Marketing - Which Is Better?

When I interact with most online marketers, it's obvious that they view Internet marketing and network marketing as two separate and very distinct worlds. Proponents of either often act as if the other is something to be avoided like the plague.

I personally am involved in marketing for, and consulting with, companies in both worlds. I've discovered that there is a lot of overlap, and that there are techniques which work equally well in both worlds.

Let's briefly examine how they differ, and which is better.

Network marketing, or MLM, is very familiar to most people because we've all been approached by someone in the offline world who is doing it. We've been invited to meetings, or sat through presentations where they demonstrated what they did, and how it could mean financial independence for you.

I generally think of network marketing as:

- Being multiple-tiered - where you earn on the efforts of others that you recruit.

- Offering residual income, where you sell the product once, and then earn commissions each month as the customer reorders a consumable product.

- Utilizing auto-shipment, where the customer agrees to purchase a certain amount of the product or service each month... generally at a lower price that if it were a one-time purchase.

- Requiring lots of phone calls, meetings, and direct interaction with the customers.

- Allowing representatives to grow their businesses through duplicable systems where they just plug new representatives into a proven system.

I generally think of Internet marketing as:

- Utilizing a two-tiered (at most) payment plan. When you go beyond two-tiers the rules change dramatically for the program operator.

- Emphasizing earning commissions primarily on your own efforts although many super-affiliates also earn hefty second-tier commissions.

- Marketing primarily using email and websites, although RSS, broadcast calls, teleseminars, and even direct mail can fit into the picture. There is a movement towards using offline methods to drive business online.

- Often only offering one-time commissions on individual sales.

- Requiring very little direct customer interaction, although the most successful affiliate marketers focus more on interacting with customers and building relationships.

Which is better? Obviously, that's a loaded question with room for lots of differences in opinion.

Generally, whichever best serves YOUR customers needs is better for you.

Whichever offers your customers something that they can't buy cheaper at the local superstore obviously should sell better for you.

Long-term, lasting success in both isn't based upon throwing around big numbers, when you know that the average person probably won't achieve the level of success offered in the examples. That's because both depend upon how well your new "recruits" can utilize the system that you equip them with and the level of commitment that they have.

Both can offer residual income, and I personally do generate substantial residual income with both systems. Internet marketing offers residual income through products such as web hosting, membership sites, and product-of-the-month type sites.

An example of such a site is Dr. Mike Woo-Ming's Affiliate "Sales Letters" which offers affiliate marketers re-written sales letters for Clickbank products that otherwise would be poor sellers. This is an excellent example of a product that solves a problem, and offers to the affiliate/member a residual income. You can see how this works at: http://WillieCrawford.com/fix-bad-sites.html

Ordinary consumer products can also offer very nice residual income. In order to be a big success in the network marketing arena the product must offer unique advantages AND be priced competitively. Very often, you'll see products that are WAY over-priced, and they're that way because there is no real demand in the marketplace and the high commissions are what are used to "lure" unsavvy new distributors.

These unfortunate distributors are lured into businesses built on very shaky foundations. If you look in the right places though, you will find products that people want, that they are buying, and that you can offer at a competitive rate. Here are two examples:

1) Discount travel through YTB travel. This is a network marketing company that allows your customers to tap directly into one of THE BIGGEST online travel databases and book travel, reserve lodging, and reserve rental cars. Travelers get great deals, and you earn a commission on each referral booking that you make. You can see this incredible system in action at: http://www.ytbnet.com/williecrawford

The url above is the one that I link to from a site that helps people locate Internet marketing seminars at: http://InternetMarketingSeminarScheudule.com After they've located a "can't miss" seminar, it's natural for them to look for inexpensive travel and accommodations. Therefore, selling travel becomes effortless.

I offer the same travel booking service on a site where I help martial artists locate karate tournaments. Again, it is natural for site visitors to book their travel once they've located an event that they want to attend. You can see how I do this in the martial arts niche at: http://Tournamentsite.com

This same method of marketing travel... selling an MLM product using "Internet marketing techniques" shows how the distinction can quickly become blurred.

Another product where I seamless blend Internet marketing and network marketing, with a product that sells itself, practically hands off, is... greeting cards.

I offer visitors to many of my consumer-type sites the ability to send real, printed greeting cards right over the Internet, for a fraction of the cost that they would pay in a card shop. They get the same quality of card, don't have to travel... brave the weather... fight the crowds, or even lick stamps. They just choose and compose the card, add any photo they desire, click send, and the card is in the mail, for around $1.50 TOTAL :-)

You can check out that slick setup, and see how effortless it really can be at: http://SendOutCards.com/willie

Back to the question of which is better - Internet marketing or network marketing...

Both can actually be marketed the same way. You can market Internet marketing products via phone, fax, email, direct mail, or a website. You can do the same with network marketing products.

The bottom line is that the "want" for a product, and the availability of that product at a great price, are more important than method of selling. Which is better therefore depends upon which is a better match for you and your market. You can do very well with either. It's really just a matter of doing your research, finding a perfect market-to-product match, and then starting to actively build your dream business. You'll likely find yourself using a mixture of methods regardless of the product.

Blogging: A Writers Journal

A novel way for a writer to keep prospects and fans in the loop on their progress as a writer is through the use of a web log or Blog.

This notion of self-publishing, which is what Blogger and blogging are really about, is the next big wave of human communication. The last big wave was Web activity. Before that one it was e-mail. Eric Schmidt

This online tool has allowed many writers to share thoughts, humor, politics, and more with any and all who would visit. Since the Internet is a device of connectivity it also allows for immediate feedback in ways standard publishing cannot offer.

Essentially the web has created a means for someone who has not been discovered to find an audience who is interested in what they have to say.

For some, a blog is intended to be private in that they do not promote the blog for mass consumption, however with the growth of blogging it has become more difficult to ensure your blog will remain essentially a private journal.

As Eric Schmidt pointed out, blogging has become a form of self-publishing. In this case the author becomes the editor and publisher and has total artistic control. The use of Google Adsense can also provide residual income to help pay for any costs associated with your blog.

A blog can be very useful to a writer. It provides an outlet for regular writing, but it also allows people who enjoy your work to take in your regular posts and feel a greater connection to you. Some random blog-thought has been transformed by their owners into long form articles and stories.

At its best, blogging is all about change. The format suits writers who want to move fast. Naomi Darvell

Many blogging sites allow the use of photographs and audio. For instance, if you had a book signing you could use photos from the event in the body of your blog. If you have a recording of a portion of your book that you are authorized to rebroadcast it also can be placed in your blog. Links can be provided to encourage visitors to check out similar blogs by other writing friends and best of all a blog can assist visitors in finding where they may find other work youve produced along with information on how to purchase any available books you may have.

People who enjoy reading blogs will find a circle of blogs that entertain, inspire, and make them think or laugh. Having a blog that is tied into a personal website can go a long way in connecting with those who may already have an appreciation for your work.

Special Education Needs Causing Financial Crisis in California Schools

Now, I am all for special education for children with disabilities. I attended school at a time when such children were either put into special schools or thrown in with the general student population to sink or swim on their own. It was a terrible inequity. It finally was addressed in the 1970s with a law designed to correct such discrimination by giving these children the civil right to an equal opportunity to learn. The law covered children from birth to age 22, guaranteeing them the right to a free and appropriate public education. It is the ambiguous word appropriate written into the law that is creating a crisis for the California schools, according to Nanette Asimov, staff writer for the San Francisco Chronicle.

The article cited a situation of one California schools child with a disability. The assigned public middle school offered special college prep classes, daily help from a special education expert, a laptop computer, extra time for tests, the opportunity to temporarily leave class if the childs had an anxiety attack, and a special advocate to smooth over any problems with teachers.

The parents hired a special consultant instead, who found alternative schooling opportunities all were private schools and all were out-of-state. They settled on a boarding school in Maine, outside the main city, that had one-tenth of the enrollment of the California schools. The one thing this school did not offer was a special education program. The mother said that smaller classrooms and a smaller campus were more important than a special education program. Since the possibility of anxiety attacks was mentioned in the article, no one can truly judge the merit of this situation except the childs physician and/or psychologist.

After the child was placed into the private school, the parents then hired an attorney, who specializes in special education cases, to file papers with the court demanding the California schools pay four years of tuition and family travel costs between California and Maine. Tuition was $30,000 annually. The California schools met the demands.

This is only one such case in the California schools, which may or may not have been justified. The problem is that it is not the only case. In 2005, there were 3,763 California schools children with disabilities that were the focus of formal complaints the vast majority of which came from parents. This is triple the number of only ten years ago, and the numbers are growing.

With a cost of almost $40,000 to go to a court hearing and the possibility of an expensive judgment, the California schools attempt to settle cases before they get that far. In 2005, ten percent of the California schools cases went to a full hearing 386 in all. The remaining 90 percent were resolved through confidential settlements. With 700,000 special needs students currently in the California schools and already paying hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for private placements, the school system is headed for a financial crisis.

In 2004, the California schools received $4.1 billion for special education from the government and local sources. It was still not enough to pay these extra settlement costs, and the California schools had to take $1.6 billion from the regular class budget. Twenty-eight percent of the special education expenditures that year came from the regular education budget.

California schools educators complain that parents who are able to afford an attorney are assured more opportunities for their children than those who cannot afford to do so, creating an inequity between the haves and have-nots. Additionally, special education teachers see benefits to special programs, such as horseback riding therapy, but acknowledge that such parent demands are not education related. California schools parents and educators are at odds.

Parents are making tuition payment demands of the California schools for such programs as private day schools, boarding schools, summer camps, horseback riding therapy, and aqua therapy. Additionally, the California schools are expected to pay for computers, airfare, car rental, hotel stays, meals, new clothing and tailoring for the children, cell phone calls, stamps, gas and tolls, and future round-trip visits from time of enrollment until the children graduate from high school.

In all, the California schools are paying billions of dollars each year for private placements and auxiliary costs. It is creating an inequity for children the civil rights law was passed to protect and a financial crisis for the California schools.

I have to admit that I wanted every opportunity possible for my child to live a happy and normal adult life. I had a special needs child and spent many hours sitting in principals offices and at the school board demanding that his needs be met. I was thankful that he received access to the available offerings within the public school system.

In my view, however, it is not a question of right or wrong, justified expenditure or not. It is a question of the legislators going back and specifically defining the word appropriate. Until then, the California schools are borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, which means less opportunities all the way around.

Attention Shoppers - Retail Stores Are Destroying Our Credit Scores

Imagine this...

You walk into a department store to purchase something you need. Then the friendly young person at the cash register says, "You can save 20% off your purchases today if you apply for our store credit card right now."

Save 20%? Wow! Sounds like a great deal, doesn't it? But let's take a look at what really happens to your credit when you give in to that temptation.

How Department Store Credit Cards Work

First of all, you have to remember that the young clerk, who barely looks old enough to drive, doesn't understand how the system works. They just focus on how many applications they can "sell" during the holiday season. Clerks who sign up the most people get some kind of bonus in returnusually cash or company merchandise.

Let's assume you agree and fill out a credit application. The clerk presses a few buttons and processes it on the spot. (Guess how? Yup, by quickly making a decision based on how high one of your FICO credit scores is.) This is called "instant credit." You see, retailers know that the best time to sell you something is while you're still in the store.

Whether or not you get approved, you have a credit inquiry from that store on your credit reports.

Your FICO Scores Can Plummet Up to 12 Points Per Inquiry

According to our research, each credit inquiry can lower a person's credit scores up to 12 points. And here's the kicker...EACH department store credit inquiry will affect your scores for 12 months. That's 1 year! 365 days! 8,760 hours!

Let me repeat that: EACH inquiry from any retail store will count against your credit scores. Sometimes you end up going to 8, 10, or 20 different stores. If you're applying for cards at all those stores, your scores are going to take a major dive.

Meanwhile, Back at the Department Store...

The young person behind the register suddenly announces (loudly, of course) that you were denied credit, gives you a receipt, and says, "Thank you, please shop with us again." You walk out of the store rejected. Not to mention embarrassedand you didn't even save any money because you have to actually qualify for the card to save the 20%. Punks.

What went wrong?

You weren't prepared.

I remember the fear that ran through me every time I filled out a department store credit application after my bankruptcy. I would actually wait until there was no one in line at the cashier! That way, if I got declined at least I wouldn't get too embarrassed.

In the Snyder household, we don't apply for this type of credit anymore. It was one of the reasons we filed bankruptcy 12 years ago. So we stay clear of department store credit. It's expensive credit (the interest rates usually hover around 23%) and it's too tempting and too easy to go into debt.

And the worst thing about department store credit is that the negative impact of the inquiries will last 12 months...so any store credit card applications you fill out will haunt you for the next year. It can be a vicious cycle if you don't break it. You can do it...break the cycle.

There's very little a retail store credit card can do for you that your normal VISA or MasterCard can't. I should know...before I filed bankruptcy I was the king of buying on store credit! The more store credit I got, the more successful I felt. I don't do that anymore. Now I know better. And so should you.

Who you are isn't determined by how many credit cards you get approved for. Do you even need their credit card? Is saving 20% of $50 really worth the trouble? (Seriously, do the math...10 bucks is all you would save.) Remember, whether you get approved or declined, your credit scores are going to take a hit. And when you're recovering from bankruptcy with credit scores that are already low, every point counts.

The Best Way to Apply for a Department Store Credit Card

But let's assume you're smarter and more responsible than I was when I was younger, and that you've never had a problem with spending more than you can afford (after all, we don't all go bankrupt because of overspending). Here's how to properly master this process.

1. Find out what their credit guidelines are. Specifically, you want to know what credit reporting agency they use to make a lending decision and what minimum FICO credit score is required to get approved. Don't bother asking the young people at the checkout registerthey won't have a clue. Your best bet is to call someone in the store's credit department.

2. Know all three of your FICO credit scores. You can purchase them through www.myfico.com/12. This way, if the credit card issuer tells you their credit guidelines, you'll know whether you'll qualify or not.

3. If the credit card issuer cannot give you straight answers to the questions you're asking, then talk to another person within the department that will. If no one will tell you what you need, you're either not asking the right people, or you should take it as a sign you shouldn't be applying for that credit card.

By knowing the retailer's credit guidelines and your FICO credit scores you can apply for credit with confidence.

Last Words...

Of course, it's easy to get caught up in the joy of bringing a smile to someone's face when you think you're being a good parent or spouse by spending more than you can afford on credit. You must remember, the joy your children will get from a bunch of small gifts now will be multiplied by a hundred when you're financially stable enough to pay for their college education...or buy them their first car...or help them with a down payment on a new home. Plus, your financial responsibility will set a great example for your children.

The bottom line is: you need to think twice about the negative effect credit inquiries have on your ability to finance more important things such as mortgages, home equity loans, new cars...not to mention your insurance premiums could skyrocket!

Gas Rebate Credit Card On The Loose

Everyday, many people use their vehicles to go to work, to grocery stores, malls, or any particular place they would like to go. Vehicles need gasoline, and to some people, buying gasoline frequently is a bit heavy on the pocket.

But did you know that you could actually save a lot of money in going to a gas station almost every day? Yes, and that can happen if you have a gas rebate credit card.

Don't expect for the price of gas to come down. Almost every commodity in the market has their prices soaring higher and higher. In purchasing fuel for your vehicle, you can get a discount if you only have a gas rebate card.

Gas rebate credit cards works like that of cash back cards, but instead of receiving it once every year; you will be able to receive a certain amount in credit form each month.

Gas rebate cards are widely available, and all you have to do is to select the best one. The card member earns interest; and this interest greatly varies depending on the offer. Introductory offers for gas rebate cards have a maximum rate of 6% in order to attract customers, but after some time, it is also reduced.

There are gas rebate cards offered by many gas companies which are called 'brand specific' cards and is used only in a specific location. This is an advantage for people who purchase their gasoline or fuel in one particular station. But if shopping around is your habit, or if you frequently have out-of-town travels, this would be a disadvantage to you.

Because of certain advantages and disadvantages, most of today's companies which cater to general purpose cards are offering gas rewards. The amount is accumulated every time you make a purchase from any gas company.

The rebates given every month also varies, so before making any application, you should make sure that it is fitting to your needs. There are different rebate types given to customers, therefore you should ask for the type before proceeding with the application. Usually, rebates are given every month in credit form to a specified account of a card member or holder.

You should also consider these things: (1) gas rebate credit cards have certain restrictions, and (2) other companies set limits on the amount of annual rebates.

Annual fees should not be a cause of worry because most of gas rebate cards don't charge any. However, you must be aware that the interest varies month after month. And if you can't pay all your dues at the end of the month, and have a remaining balance, this is of utmost concern for you.

Everything has limitations, and gas rebate cards are no exemption. Before selecting one particular card, you must compare all their advantages and disadvantages while considering your current needs.

With gas/fuel prices pumping high in the market, many customers will look for the best gas rebate card available. And if you're one of those people, you can start by looking around your local area or you can visit several sites on the internet which features gas rebate credit cards.

You have to know a great deal about gas rebate cards; and how it actually works. A little knowledge would do, at least you will not be ignorant about it. These cards will truly help you in your gas/fuel dilemma; especially those who owns a car or two and regularly uses them.

The Perilous Nature of Credit Card Rates

Do you use credit cards? Almost everyone these days do. Using them can be really convenient, especially if youre not comfortable with carrying a lot of cash. Credit card companies usually send offers through the mail. You can usually receive offers to get credit cards like MasterCard, American Express, Discover card, and Visa. These offers usually encourage you to take advantages of the rebates, low credit card rates, and other benefits of a particular credit card. Credit cards companies nowadays are not shy about advertising. Many people are annoyed at the constant credit card offers that they receive in their mail every day.

Most companies offer an initial credit card rates of 0 percent on all balance transfers. The problem is they are not as generous when it comes to purchases. These companies are aware of the spending habits of the everyday shopper and use a number of methods to take advantage of the amount of money they spend on a daily basis. They offer shoppers a 0 percent credit card rates on balance transfer to entice them to transfer any large amount that they are paying too much interest on. Many people cant resist the temptation of having a 0 APR. If you have problems with high credit card rates, you should look for ways to transfer that nasty balance on another credit card.

Advantages of Online Card Games

Even though I am a huge fan of playing cards, I cannot set aside an evening to play poker with my friends and family because we all have very busy schedules. I miss those evenings when we played poker for hours. Nothing can be compared with sitting down with your friends for a lovely evening of cards, remembering old times and funny memories, drinking a few beers and having some snacks. Personally I find this the best way to enjoy my friends. However, when this is not possible, then I turn to playing online card games, my second favorite activity.

Playing online card game is really easy, you don't have to call your friends and try to arrange a convenient time and place for everyone to get together and play poker. When playing online, you sign in and then you just get started, everyone is already there, you have virtual cards and a virtual table, as well. Everything is redistributed, cheating is impossible and all you have to do is sit down and play the hand. When you get bored, you are free to go or you could change the table. There are even people who can play two or three online card games at the same time. I can only admire such dedication.

When playing online, you can still make some new friends. Online card games have the opportunity for text conversation, so you can talk to the people you are playing with. Using this chat is great because you are not face to face and you don't get nervous about meeting strangers. Moreover, you can pretend to be someone you are not and no one will question you. If you start feeling uncomfortable or you get bored with the game, you can leave whenever you want. Playing online card games has the advantages of face-to-face card playing without the disadvantage of commitment and effort. However, no matter how good online card games might be, nothing is better than a nice poker night with your old friends sharing memories and having a few drinks.

A Mother's Day

This Sunday marks one of the busiest days for our nation's telephone system. Sunday is Mothers Day and we are told that moms like flowers, jewelry, appliances, family gathered around the table and phone calls from those unable to present themselves in person. Whether or not your mom fits with the traditional marketing profile it makes sense that those who bore or adopted us would want to be remembered and appreciated for the effort.

But also know as you lay your head down on your pillow tonight that 28,000 mothers around the world will remember this Sunday as the day they buried their child.

Shocking as this may feel to us, it is a simple, horrifying truth. Ten million children under the age of five die each year, mostly in developing countries, mostly from treatable infections, waterborne illness and malnutrition. That number averages out to 28,000 small children never seeing their first day of school, let alone the joy of a long, productive life that celebrates their mother's love and commitment to them.

Before hopelessness settles in and you feel you can't do anything that really makes a difference, stop and realize that everything we do does make a difference. Jesus started his public ministry out by stating, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor (Luke 4:18)." Being God's agent in the world meant Jesus was empowered to make a difference. Jesus also empowered his disciples to do the same. We as followers of Jesus Christ are therefore uniquely and ably equipped to carry this legacy of hope, faith and lovingkindness into the world to today's poor. What Jesus saw most clearly is that he could change lives by preaching good news to the poor. We too can change lives by preaching good news to the poor.

We preach good news to the poor when we accept the reality that we are all the same and we are all connected to one another. It is time we stop isolating ourselves from he rest of the world. It is time to educate ourselves about how other cultures live and what we can do to make the world safer and healthier for all of us. CARE, Save the Children, UNICEF, World Vision and the ONE Campaign all have web sites that are easy to access, easy to maneuver and eager to share important information about the daily lives of people like us in developing countries around the world. It is harder to blame or objectify people in their poverty if we have a better understanding of their circumstances. Jesus taught this lesson each day of his ministry.

One such example is the children of Iraq. We sometimes see them on television, playing amid the rubble of blown up streets and buildings or lying on hospital beds connected to tubes to sustain their lives. Andrew Buncombe, reporting for The Independent, a UK publication, addressed the issue of the dramatic increase in infant mortality in Iraq. Although the country has suffered two wars since 1990, it has also endured U.S. supported sanctions against the Saddam Hussein regime after his invasion of Kuwait. From 1990 to the coalition invasion of 2003 some of the most wide-ranging sanctions ever imposed affected Iraqi health care and infrastructure. The number of children who died during this time is unknown, but the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) suggests an additional 500,000 children died between 1991 and 1998. Dennis Halliday resigned as UN humanitarian coordinator in protest at the sanctions, saying, "We are in the process of destroying an entire society. It is as simple and terrifying as that. It is illegal and immoral."

We preach good news to the poor when we align ourselves with them as fellow human beings and take action to support them in any way we can. Some of us can give financially at the above mentioned web sites or other organizations doing similar work. Others of us can volunteer our time directly to service that improves the lives of people living in poverty here in the United States and around the world. Yesterday morning Congress introduced the U.S. Commitment to Global Child Survival Act. If passed, this act would provide resources for simple, cost-effective tools to save lives. You can go to the ONE Campaign web site to email your Congressional representatives to support this bill. You can also participate in the Standing Women Project. Based on the book The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering, this Sunday, May 13, women around the world will join each other to save the world. To stand with other women, children and men to save the world go online to the Standing Women Project.

We preach good news to the poor when we remember that Jesus did not separate himself from the people who needed him the most. We preach good news to the poor when we align ourselves with those who need us to know them, help them renew their hope and feed their children. We preach good news to the poor when we act to make a difference in someone else's life simply because our faith compels us to do so in the name of the One who sent Jesus as our leader and example. We also honor our mothers and all women who have nurtured us to wholeness when we carry on their good work to hep others on to wholeness in their own lives.

Helping other people may not keep Hallmark in business, but it may keep some of today's 28,000 children from dying. Helping someone else may make this Mothers Day memorable to the moms of those children for all the right reasons.

Difficult to picture indeed, but we must also remember that live cricket score was not available earlier, and we had ardent cricket fans at that time also. Use a Body Stocking Instead of a Thong

You may find yourself one day doing a catalog or fashion photo shoot with a very tight fitting outfit. How do you get rid of those bulging lines under your clothes?

Many models simply wear no bra and a thong to get rid of lines. This works fine in most cases but an interesting alternative is wearing a body stocking instead. The body stocking accomplishes the same effect without the problem of going bra-less, especially if you are a little timid.

The body stocking is an article of lingerie that is often neglected by female models when doing a photo session. This wonderful accessory is a must for any adult model's wardrobe and will come in handy during the photo session. This garment is similar to a leotard in that it fits snugly against the skin. Some people equate the body stocking to a kind-of cat suit because it is so skintight.

The benefit of a body stocking for model photos is that it can be discreetly worn beneath just about any outfit and fashion models make good use of this body stocking "secret" as well as those doing a catalog photo session.

A body stocking is usually made out of material that is similar to tights or pantyhose. Some come in a sexy fishnet design which has a very sexy presence during a glamour or lingerie photo session. The fishnet designs are usually reserved for the daring enthusiasts.

Most women prefer the sleek look and clean lines found in the sheer material of a body stocking. The sheer fabric is appealing to models who want to model tight clothing to keep from panties and bras buldging from under their wardrobe.

Hiding lines is not the only benefit of wearing a body stocking in model pictures. The sexy lingerie is also quite efficient as well. The body stocking can give you an extra layer under your clothing without creating ugly bulges.

This is especially important during fashion photo shoots where you want to show your best assets. Even your most clingy garments will rest easily on top of the thin, sheer material of the body stocking. The lingerie can also help give your figure a subtle boost and your model photos will definitely show a slimmer you.

You can order a body stocking with or without sleeves. Short sleeves are also available in some styles. The legs are usually covered by the garment simply because it is designed to cover most of the body.

The sheer unobtrusive fabric is a delight so it really doesnt matter if it covers you from head to toe. It is still quite comfortable to wear. You can wear the body stocking as is or as an undergarment in your model photos depending upon the photographic effect you're looking to achieve.

Plus-size ladies also benefit from using a body stocking in fashion and catalog photos to enhance their curves. The lingerie offers coverage from head to toe but still keeps things interesting through its sheer sexiness.

Ladies of all shapes and sizes do themselves a service by adding a body stocking when preparing a wardrobe for a model photo session.

By the use of the body stocking technique you should look and feel your best and keep the photo advisor happy.

Composite Cards - The Starter Kit for Photography Models

What are comp cards?

In a nutshell, comp cards (short for composite cards) are a form of advertisement and promotion for fashion, glamour and other types of models. They come in many different shapes, layout styles and sizes giving models the benefit of being creative when choosing how their promotional piece will look.

Benefits of comp cards

You'll find that there are many advantages of having composite cards made to promote yourself as a model. Here are just a few ...

Professionalism

There is an old saying in the modeling industry; If you want to be treated as a professional model, look like a professional model. This stands true for the images you show also.

When you present your composite cards with beautiful, well-chosen photos to an agency representative or a potential client, he or she knows that you are serious about your career and will treat you as such.

By no means does this insure that you will get a job with that client or agent but it sure puts you way ahead of many of the other models who are in competition with you.

You will not get a second chance to make a first impression!!!

Don't be so anxious to start your modeling career that you skip a step which could open (or close) a door for you. Your composite cards are that important. Be a professional and hand them a comp card instead of a snapshot.

Most people don't throw away pictures

By now you may be thinking; "What if I just have normal business cards made to leave with agents and clients?".

Yes, you could have business cards made for less trouble and expense and I encourage you to do just that. Business cards are another way of presenting yourself as a professional model.

But, agents and clients sometimes throw out business cards or they put them in their pockets and lose them.

Most people hesitate to throw away pictures which is what your comp cards look like. They are more likely to file your composites along with the other professional models in their files for future reference so you have at least a small chance that they will see your photo again. Which, by the way, leads to ...

What do you look like?

One more thought about business cards. Unless there is a photo on the card you leave the client still won't remember your look when she is ready to choose models to represent. Now it becomes your business card against the other 100 composite cards she has on file. Who will win out? You guessed it!!

In addition to your headshot on the front of the card, the agent can also see 4-5 pictures on the back along with your all-important stats. This is your contact information and other important aspects of what you have to offer as a model.

Give yourself a chance to model

Give yourself a chance to be seen and contacted by always leaving your composite card with all contacts. There is a certain safety in numbers, the comp cards are not that expensive, so don't be stingy with them.

Composite card layout and design

Below is an outline for basic comp card design to give you an idea of what your card will include. You can see examples of composites at CompCard.Com . Notice how professional these look as compared to just sending a photograph.

The layout is pretty simple for a two-sided card

Front - The front will generally include a photo covering the front of the card (I suggest a good, strong headshot here) along with your name in bold letters.

Back - On the back there is room for about four to six images showing different looks (indoor and outdoor) in a variety of outfits with at least one good full-body shot (swim wear or tight-fitting clothing).

Also, on the back of the composite will be statistical information such as ...

Contact information (Who to contact, phone, email, web address, etc.)

- Height
- Weight
- Bust size / Cup size
- Waist size
- Hip size
- Dress size
- Shoe size
- Hair color
- Hair length (short, shoulder length, long)
- Eye color
- Type(s) of modeling jobs preferred (i.e. commercial, fashion shows, runway, glamour, artistic, promotional, etc.)

How and where to get composite cards

It's really a simple process to have your comp cards designed and printed.

IMPORTANT: The first step is to have photos made by a professional model photographer who can give you usage and reprint rights. I can't stress enough the importance of starting with great pictures. If you send in a snapshot that your cousin Irma took, you're going to get a snapshot on a comp card -- A disaster!!

With that said, there is no need to feel overwhelmed with the details of getting your comp card ready. There are many companies online such as CompCard.Com who have design styles and templates online which will help you every step of the way.

Remember too that there are many different versions of comp cards so it's all up to you how your finished composite card will look.

Now you can start your modeling career off right by having professional composite cards you'll be proud to show. Just do it!!
